Course Information

Aim of the Course. To prepare selected military officers to undertake
responsibilities as a Military Observer in UN Peace Operations (UNPO).

Objectives.

The objectives of the course are as follows:
a. Develop understanding on the basic principles, guidelines, policies, roles and
responsibilities of UNPO.
b. Align the participants with the core issues related to UN structure, functioning,
management, core values and competencies, and overview of mandated tasks
including cross-cutting thematic issues in UNPO.
c. Perform UN Military Observers’ functions in an effective, professional and
integrated manner.
d. Practice UNMO’s Mission Specific Task such as; organize a Team Site Base,
interest based negotiation, establishing and functioning of an OP, organize and
conduct a patrol, ground level investigation, crater analysis and manage a
crisis/hostile situation following reporting procedure to Higher Headquarters

Course Information

Aim of the Course. To prepare officers to undertake assignments as Logistic Staff
Officers in on-going and future UN peacekeeping Operations.

Objectives.
The course deals explicitly with UN logistics procedures & challenges in field operations including national preparations for deployment to such operations. The course will meet current standards of performance established by the UN and include best practices from training being conducted by other peacekeeping nations. Considering the responsibility of a logistician at tactical & operational level working in the mission area the key objectives of the course are:

1. Orient the participants with the UN and Mission structure, UN logistics management including responsibilities of UN HQs, Mission HQs and TCC.
2. Familiarize the participants on the operational and logistic principles and procedures in UN peace operation (UNPO).
3. Make participants familiarized with various UN inspections, COE system, reimbursement policy, liaison and negotiation.
4. Prepare participants to understand cooperation within the HQ staffs, and between the military logistics staff and UN civilian logistics staffs.
5. Develop adequate knowledge among participants on UN Logistics, UN Supply, and UN Movement Control Systems to perform as logistic officers in contingent and logistic staffs at different levels in UNPO.
6. Be able to analyze & address logistic issues related to Protection of Civilian, Women, Peace & Security, Human Rights etc in multidimensional peace operations.

Women Peace and Security Course (WPSC)-12 Duration: 25-29 May 2025

Course Information

Aim of the Course To promote a better understanding on the United Nations policies, guidelines and principles of Women, Peace and Security.
Objectives:
a. Learn UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 (2000) and other related resolutions and implications.
b. Explore the important concepts on gender issues.
c. Understand four pillars of WPS, i.e. Prevention, Protection, Participation and Relief & Recovery.
d. Understand the conceptual and operational issues involved in integrating a gender perspective into multidimensional PO.
e. Apply theoretical knowledge in understanding WPS through various learning activities.

Engagement Platoon Train The Trainer (EP T3) Course-3 Duration: 14 – 25 Sep 2025

Course Information

Aim of the Course. This course aims to prepare and enhance the institutional capacities of peacekeeping training centers to be able to facilitate and deliver training for female, male officers and soldiers to be deployed to multidimensional, integrated peacekeeping missions with a Protection of Civilians mandate in the roles, responsibilities and tasks of an Engagement Team(ET).
Training Outcome. The course will contribute to capacity building for troops contributing countries. Participants will be prepared to train future ET leaders and members, infused within Infantry Battalions of TCCs deployed to peacekeeping missions.

Objectives.
a. Develop awareness and understanding of the responsibilities and roles of the ET to effectively operate in peacekeeping operations with a Protection of Civilians mandate.
b. Create an understanding of the complexity and characteristics of the operational environment in today’s conflicts and the ETs role in an integrated mission.
c. Create a common understanding of UN peacekeeping operations and various agencies in the field, including aspects of operational coordination.
d. Understand the elements of Protection of Civilians, including Conflict-Related Sexual Violence and Child Protection, and develop skills and the ability to respond to these issues.
e. Enhance understanding of the importance of addressing various cross-cutting issues to include Human Rights, Gender and the implementation of SCR 1325, Code of Conduct and Discipline, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) etc through sound leadership and administration.
f. Develop the capacity of female officers and soldiers to enhance effectiveness of operations to protect civilians, particularly in regard to community engagement and information gathering.
g. Enhance the presentation and facilitation skills of participants with a focus on facilitating scenario-based exercises.

Aim of the Course.    To prepare selected participants for training of future UN Engagement Platoon leaders and members, incorporated within the Battalions deployed to UN peacekeeping missions.

The objectives of the course are as follows:

a.    Develop awareness and understanding of the responsibilities and roles of the UN-EP to effectively operate in peacekeeping operations with a Protection of Civilians mandate.
b.    Create an understanding of the complexity and characteristics of the operational environment in today’s conflicts and the UN-EP’s role in an integrated mission.
c.    Enhance the presentation and facilitation skills of participants with a focus on facilitating Scenario-Based Exercises in the classroom and training area.
d.    Demonstrate the ability to deliver UN-EP RTP lessons and activities.
e.    Understand the elements of Protection of Civilians, including Conflict-Related Sexual Violence and Child Protection, and develop skills and the ability to respond to these issues.
f.    Enhance understanding of the importance of addressing various cross-cutting issues including Human Rights and  Women, Peace and Security. 
g.    Develop the resource of female officers and soldiers to enhance effectiveness of operations to protect civilians, particularly in community engagement and information gathering.
