BIPSOT
is a prestigious institute of Bangladesh dedicated to
training of peacekeepers for employment in all types of UNPSO (UN Peace Support Operations). This institute
fulfils the requirement of UNDPKO as per General
Assembly resolution which outlines ‘the necessity and
responsibility of every nation to train their armed
forces before any deployment’.
Bangladesh started participating in UNPSO since 1988 and
within eight years became the largest troop contributing
country in the world. The training of troops at that
time was conducted at unit level until the establishment
of PKOTC (Peace Keeping Operation Training Centre) in
1999 which was subsequently restructured and expanded to
include other sate of the art training facilities for
PSO. On 17 January 2002, the institute was renamed as
BIPSOT (Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation
Training) to provide PSO training to all Bangladeshi
participants. The training curriculum have been reviewed
in the backdrop of Standardized Training Module–2 (STM –
2) and STM – 3 of UNDPKO and a new training curriculum
has been developed containing a number of professional
courses for the Bangladeshi potential Peacekeepers and
also for the personals of Armed Forces of UN member
states. |
